V.V. JOHN MEMORIAL INTER-SCHOOL DEBATE, 2022-23

Debate and discussion is the mast that gives direction to our ideas. It is essential to student life, enriching and enhancing eager minds withthe qualities of unbiased reason and judgment.

Adhering to this philosophy, St. Anne’s Sr. Sec. School hosted the 23rd V. V. John Memorial Inter-School Debate in the memory of renowned educationist Professor V. V. John on 19th November, 2022. In all, 38 speakers from 19 schools across Jodhpur participated in the debate.

The students debated on the proposition – THE FAMILY IS THE INCUBATOR OF GENDER INJUSTICE. Through their skill and reason, they argued upon the proposition enthusiastically, convincing the house of their respective stances

The debate was presided over by Dr. Vikas Balia and Ms. Sevantika Bhandari.

Ms. Sevantika Bhandari possesses two decades of global experience in marketing and brand-building.

Dr. Vikas Balia is a leading lawyer and a highly qualified Chartered Accountant, with deep passion for oratory and sports. He shared this passion through a short address to the audience at the conclusion of the programme.

Two students from class 12th – Jiya Kalwani and Kurangi Mishra – represented the school at the debate. Both gave excellent speeches, with Kurangi Mishra debating for the motion and Jiya Kalwani against it.

Vidhyashram International School was adjudged the best school and lifted the V. V. John Memorial Trophy owing to the contribution of their brilliant speakers Deepansh Vishwakarma and Pragya Jain.

Deepansh Vishwakarma was adjudged the best speaker of the day.

The second position was held by Jiya Kalwani of St. Anne’s Sr. Sec. School, while Aditi Vyas of St. Patrick’s Vidya Bhawan secured the third position.

Two consolation prizes were also presented to Vaibhav Jakhar of B. R. Birla Public School and Mahika Kachwaha of Delhi Public School, Pal Road.

In a small interim, amedley of songs was performed by Jiya Gaur, a student of class 10th E.
