Inter-Class Mathematics Quiz for Classes XI & XII – 2026–27

  • Tue,03 Nov 2026

The Inter-Class Mathematics Quiz for Classes XI and XII was organised at St. Anne's Senior Secondary School, Jodhpur, on 13 October 2026 for the academic session 2026–27. The event aimed to enhance students' mathematical aptitude, logical reasoning, problem-solving abilities, teamwork and competitive spirit.

Unlike a conventional quiz, the competition followed an innovative team-based format. All Mathematics students of Classes XI and XII were divided into four teams named after eminent Indian mathematicians and mathematicians of Indian origin:

1. *Team 1 – ARYABHATTA*
2. *Team 2 – BHASKARACHARYA*
3. *Team 3 – C. R. RAO*
4. *Team 4 – D. R. KAPREKAR*

The quiz consisted of several exciting and challenging rounds designed to test students' mathematical knowledge, speed, accuracy, creativity and teamwork.

The opening round, *F3 – Fastest Finger First*, witnessed all four teams attempting questions simultaneously. With four questions carrying 20 marks each and a time limit of one minute per question, this round tested the participants' quick thinking, alertness and accuracy.

The second round, *Activity Round*, brought an interesting practical dimension to the competition. Four members from each team participated in mathematical activities, completing the given tasks within one minute. Marks were awarded according to the order of completion, with 20 marks for the first team and 10 marks for the second. This round tested not only mathematical skills but also coordination, teamwork and speed.

The remaining rounds followed a structured marking system. Each question carried a maximum of 20 marks, with 30 seconds allowed for answering. Teams could make up to three attempts, with progressively reduced marks for subsequent correct answers and negative marking for incorrect second and third attempts. Marks were awarded to individual participants, and the combined scores determined the final team standings.

An Extra Question Round was provided to resolve any tie between teams. Special emphasis was also placed on discipline and decorum throughout the competition to ensure its smooth conduct.

The quiz created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and healthy competition. Students participated actively, displaying their mathematical understanding, presence of mind and collaborative abilities. The audience encouraged the teams with cheers and applause, making the event lively and engaging.

After an exciting competition, the eagerly awaited results were announced. *Team A secured the first position with 100 marks, Team D achieved the second position with 90 marks, while Team C secured the third position with 85 marks.*

Certificates were awarded to the top scorers from the first-, second- and third-position teams in recognition of their outstanding performance and contribution.

The event was organised by the *Department of Mathematics under the guidance of Brijesh Sharma and Deepak Kumar Singh*, with the active support and coordination of the students of Class XII-C. The dedicated efforts of the organisers and student volunteers ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the quiz.

The Mathematics Quiz proved to be an enriching and enjoyable learning experience, reinforcing the importance of mathematical thinking, teamwork, quick decision-making and the practical application of mathematical concepts.
